Update to Exceptions to OAS CAHPS Participation Requirements

This email serves as an advance notification to all approved OAS CAHPS Survey vendors that updates to OAS CAHPS Participation Requirements for HOPDs will be documented in the next version of the OAS CAHPS Protocol and Guidelines Manual, Version 11.0, which will be posted in November 2026. These two updates are effective immediately:

1. Indian Health Services (IHS) Hospitals are not required to participate in the OAS CAHPS Survey, but they can choose to participate on a voluntary basis.
2. PPS-Exempt Cancer Hospitals are not eligible to participate in the OAS CAHPS Survey. Note that the OAS CAHPS registration process has been updated so that these hospitals are not able to register their CCN on the OAS CAHPS website. PPS-Exempt Cancer Hospitals that registered for OAS CAHPS have been notified.
