Updated OAS CAHPS Data Submission and XML Schema Validation Tools Available

The online Data Submission Tool and XML Schema Validation Tool have been updated to accept OAS CAHPS Survey data starting with the January 2022 sample month. Both tools are now available on the OAS CAHPS website. To access these tools, survey vendors must first log in and navigate to the desired link under the "Data Submission" menu tab.

The changes made to these tools reflect the revised survey instrument and the addition of the two new web modes (web with mail follow-up and web with phone follow-up), as documented in the XML Data File Layouts in the OAS CAHPS Survey Protocols and Guidelines Manual Version 6.0 in Appendices J (Standard), K (Dipropionate Stratified Random Sampling [DSRS]) and L (Zero-Sampled).

Vendors can now upload up to five XML data files at once in the Data Submission Tool. Additional submission tips and information can be found on the Data Resources webpage: https://oascahps.org/Data-Submission/Data-Submission-Resources.

The XML Schema Validation Tool has been migrated to a web-based platform that can be accessed via a new link in the "Data Submission" menu tab. As a reminder, the purpose of the XML Schema Validation Tool is to help survey vendors test the XML files developed for data submission.

The deadline for vendors to submit OAS CAHPS Survey data for the Quarter 1, 2022 is July 13, 2022. This will be the first submission that vendors are required to use both the revised XML data file layouts and online tools. Therefore, we encourage vendors to submit Quarter 1, 2022 survey data early leaving ample time for correction(s) and re-uploading files, as needed.
